David Salvatierra is a painter and cajon maker based in New York's Hudson Valley. Across both practices, his work begins with material, structure, and close attention: the pressure of a painted plane, the resonance of wood, and the way an object holds space.

Trained through years of cabinet and furniture making, David approaches every cajon as both a musical instrument and a crafted object. He builds by hand, selecting woods, proportions, front plates, and string systems to shape a responsive voice for musicians.

His paintings explore the relationship between human life, nature, and remembered spaces. Architecture, compressed landscapes, and quiet psychological tension become a language of color and geometry.

The studio brings these two paths together: paintings made to deepen experience, and instruments made to create it.
